Saturday March 13th,we received a phone call from our good friends Ted & Nancy McCarley. They were in our area so we planned to get together. Fort Lauderdale was a bustle with all kinds of St. Patrick's Day celebrations. We met on the Summer Wind and walked along the New River where we enjoyed a delightful lunch with some good Irish music. There was a festival going on with lots of vendors and plenty of  people all decked out in green. It was absolutely beautiful outside for the celebration.

 After lunch we walked over to Las Olas Blvd. where they had a St. Patrick's Day parade. The honorary band for the parade were the NYPD Emerald Society Bagpipe band . Later in the day we walked back to the park and watched an impromptu performance from the band surrounded by thousands of celebrants!

 

Our reason for being in Fort Lauderdale was to have our vinyls repaired that were damaged from the hail. Well sure enough Colin came and took down the damaged sides with a grimacing tsk, tsk, and told us how he and his young daughter were caught in that same horrible wind. Well he assured us they'd would be fixed in a couple of days and they were and they look great!

Wednesday March 17th, St. Patrick's Day ... This day started off rather sloppily with heavy rains in the morning. This was going to put a damper on our plans to leave Fort Lauderdale in order to head back to Stuart, where we would have to finish the holding tank re-fit. One of the bright spots of the day were Rachel , Taner and Gretchen were joining us for lunch.Wouldn't you know after a delightful lunch the sun came out! We  walked along Las Olas Blvd, and then went back to the Summer Wind for a little tour and conversation. Thanks guys, we had a great time!

So five o'clock at slack tide Ted and Nancy came to help us off the wall. Our stop that night was Lake Sylvia where we enjoyed a beautiful sunset .Dick grilled us a wonderful dinner. It took us two days to get back to Stuart. Our second night we anchored in Lake Worth.
