Can you see anything? I can't see anything! Can you see anything?

We had a very peaceful and quiet night in the Glimmer Glass anchorage. It was hard to tell that we were actually swinging on a hook because this small anchorage is protected from any wind. Our departure time was around 7:00am which was a good two hours before low tide. Had we waited any later the Summer Wind would definitely have scraped bottom in the shallow passageway leaving the anchorage.
Made our turn to depart down the Manasquan Inlet and we couldn't even see the channel heading out. A heavy morning fog had blanketed the New Jersey coastline. Do we or don't we leave? The fog was 'only supposed to last part of the morning' and with fog it usually means the seas are calm, so we decided to go slow and head out. We have all the necessary equipment aboard the Summer Wind, loud horns, electronic charts,paper charts,compass , auto pilot and great radar. Hmmm but do other boats have this stuff on a day like today? We discovered that most boats have the equipment because we heard captains over the radio giving their lat/lon (position), speed and direction and we heard several horns , off in the distance. Anytime the captain spotted a boat remotely close on our course, he'd alter our course , just to feel secure.
Headed south out onto the ocean and we had 1/4 mile and sometimes less visibility. The seas were definitely flat but there was nothing to see but a wall of white. It's amazing travelling in fog, eveything turns monochromatic. There's a white wall of fog, grey/black water and your driving in a white boat. The only hint of color was our green turtle on our burgee flying on the bow. It felt like we were in a black and white oldies movie.
At the end of the day, nearing our destination of Atlantic City, the only visible sign that we were remotely close to the entrance was the top of the new entertainment center was peaking out of the top of the fog.This only lasted for about 10 minutes but it gave us a good bearing that we were definitely heading in the right direction.
That night  the casinos lit up and  with the fog, it was very eerie. With the construction lights on the entertainment center lit the low lying clouds. I wish there was a picture but unfortunately they turned out extremely blurry.
